Every town in America

Big or small

Has a Waffle House,

An antique store,

A bank.

These three principles

Of town-hood

I think

Were written in the book of

How to Be a Town

As the only Requirements.

Prerequisites, however,

include:

Roads and stop lights,

Second rate coffee shops,

A church,

People.

But

In my book

There would also be

The addition of

A warm, safe place

Tucked behind a cornfield

Between the trees

Where one could hide,

Just for a while,

No Waffle House in sight.
